Summer Getaway to the Dominican Republic
Happy Summer my friends! The hubby and I just got back from an amazing week-long trip to the Dominican Republic, and I can't wait to tell you all about it! Grab a cold drink, sit back and relax; and prepare yourself for an overload of gorgeous pics and lots of exclamation points!!
We started planning this trip about 6 months ago with some friends who were looking to take a kid-free vacation this year. It had been a long time since we had taken a long trip without the boys, and since we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary earlier this year, we decided to book the trip, and call it a second honeymoon!
Because of all the great things we had heard about AMResorts, we checked out all their resort locations, and ultimately booked an all-inclusive trip to the Secrets Cap Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic. This resort just opened in November 2016, so we were excited to see this brand new resort, and enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation!
The resort itself was just beautiful, and the huge open lobby was a perfect spot to listen to live music, people watch, and enjoy the refreshing breeze in the afternoon. It seems silly to say we enjoyed hanging out in the lobby, but it really was that amazing!
Our room was really nice, and the private balcony had comfy seating that made sitting outside in the evening a perfect way to end the day. Our first night there we relaxed outside and listened to live music that was playing by the pool, all in the comfort of our own space.
And, I couldn't get enough of the amazing view! The water was so clear, and beach was just awesome! It helps that the average temperature was 86-90 degrees while we were there, which was fantastic considering it was 110 degrees at home! I never would have thought going on a tropical vacation in July would give us such a big break from the heat!
I think it rained almost everyday for 5-10 minutes, and the constant gentle breeze was so nice! I just couldn't get over how bright the water looked when the dark rain clouds moved in, it's almost like it glowed! And then the clouds would move out just as fast as they came in.
The Secrets Cap Cana Resort was so beautiful, I think it's nearly impossible to take a bad picture! Every picture I took looks like a postcard!
We had to get coconut drinks one day at the pool, because don't you have to do that when you are on an island vacation? I wish I liked the drink more, it was okay, I think the idea of drinking out of the coconut was better than the drink itself, but when in the Dominican...
We hadn't even left for home when we already started looking at family friendly resorts for our next trip, so I think it's safe to say we really enjoyed our time in the Dominican Republic. I think the boys would have such a good time, and they are at a perfect age to really enjoy it too. I would love to hear your suggestions on family friendly resorts you have been too!
OH, HOW FUN!! These pics are just gorgeous, and you totally make me want to do an all-inclusive! We never have and have always wanted to. Glad you had such a wonderful trip!
