Drab to Fab Table Makeover: Create and Share Challenge
**This post was created in collaboration with Wise Owl Paint, I was provided with paint and supplies in order to complete this project. All comments and project details are my own.**
I am back with 14 of my blogger friends for another Create and Share Monthly Challenge! This month we partnered with Wise Owl Synthesis Chalk Paint to create a fun update in our home, be sure to check out the other projects listed at the bottom of this post.
This table was a fantastic auction find a few years ago, I think I paid less than $10 for it. It has some great details (most of which I did not manage to capture in a before picture!!) which made it a perfect candidate for this project.
This was my first time working with chalk synthesis paint; I am more of a spray paint kind of girl. It ended up taking 3 coats of paint to get the complete coverage I was looking for. I didn't really read too much on using this kind of paint, so I didn't sand between coats, so I don't know how much that would have changed the number of coats I needed for full coverage.
The color I selected was Limestone, which is a super light grey. Here is a view of those great details, after the paint, and before I started applying the wax.
And here it is after two coats of Driftwood Wax. The trim details have a great depth to them, and the color of the wax darkened the overall color of the paint perfectly. I chose to not repair the "damage" to the front of the table as it gives the piece more character and is natural wear that you just can't get when you finish furniture to make it look old. Little imperfections give furniture character and are a part of it's history.
Aren't those bright flowers awesome! They were not my first choice, but my little shopping assistant thought that I needed to have brightly colored flowers, and seeing them on this table, I know he was right!!

Thanks Cat! This table is definitely one of my favorite finds!
DeleteAwesome! I never sand between coats but a good brush makes all of the difference when it comes to application and coverage! Lighter colors don't have the same coverage as medium-darker tones but limestone is a show stopping alternative to white. I just love it with the driftwood wax! Great job bringing this piece back to life!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Karen! I am really loving the color too!
