Dare To Go Bold In Your Home

I recently made a BOLD move in our home, and I haven't looked back.

This coffee table in our living room was a hand-me-down. It would not have been my first choice, it was filthy, and it seemed really big in our living room. But, we needed a table and I wasn't about to argue with free. We cleaned it all up and gave it a coat of grey paint, and moved it up to our grey living room.

It worked, the size has ended up being great for our family, and the color choice was an ok one for this big piece of furniture. I liked the color (obviously, I use a lot of grey in our home), but it was just not what I wanted in our space. Grey was neutral, and safe, and on this table, totally blah.

I wanted fun! And, I wanted something that was more us, and less everyone else

I have fallen in love with navy blue, and I wanted more of it! That boring table was about to get a whole lot more exciting, like two coats of navy blue paint exciting! And you know what, I was honestly a little worried when I opened the paint can, but once the first coat went on the table, I knew it was exactly what we needed in this space.

L.O.V.E. I love it, I love it, and I don't care who knows it! (Name that movie.) It is bold, it is fun, and it is exactly what I wanted in our living room. Is everyone going to like it? Probably not. Is it the perfect fit for your space? Maybe not. But, what I hope it is, is inspiration to try something in your home that you love, maybe something that isn't what everyone else is doing.

Unfortunately we all struggle with this to some extent when we are decorating our homes . You find something you love and would love in your home, but you worry what your friends and visitors to your home will think. Is is the wrong color/style/size? Is it too trendy/vintage/modern, or is it not trendy/vintage/modern enough?

It's time to stop worrying about other people like, and fill your home with what you love. Today, I challenge you to make a bold change in your home. A change that reflects you, a change that maybe is a little outside your comfort zone, and ultimately, a change that makes your home more you. If you are up for the challenge, share your bold updates (big or small) with me on Instagram and tag it #omhsBeBold. I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

  4. Hi, Love the navy. I've been a navy kind of girl for over 40 years. I always thought black was too stark; not that I don't think it looks lovely in someone else's home just not mine. So I've really, really liking your daring move. What paint is it: brand, finish and name? Some navy's are almost black but l think the dark ones that still look blue. Am I making any sense at all? :-) Can't wait to see what else you do!
