Metallic Snowflake Christmas Ornaments

I am putting the finishing touches on my holiday decorations and needed some fun filler ornaments for the tree. Instead of just running to the store to find something, I decided to give myself a little challenge and see if I could DIY something with items I already had around the house. I came up with the perfect solution with these metallic snowflake ornaments, and you won't believe what they are made out of!

Are you ready to get crafty? Here are the items you need to make these metallic snowflake ornaments: 

straws*

brads*

metallic spray paint*

scissors

Start by folding a straw in half, forming a "V". Before you can slide it onto the brad you need to put a small hole in the bottom of the "V", I used a nail that had a sharp point. Once you have made a hole, slide your folded straw onto the brad. Repeat 4 more times. After the fifth straw, open the brad to hold the straws in place. Using scissors, cut the ends of the straws to length you want. 

Remember, every snowflake is different. Don't get hung up on making every straw exactly the same length, or getting the spacing between straws perfect, and if you are making multiple snowflakes, they are all going to look different.

 Then the fun! Lay out all your snowflakes and give them a nice coat of metallic spray paint. Once they are dry, flip them over the spray the other side as well.

As soon as they are dry, you are ready to decorate with your new metallic snowflake ornaments! I used them on our tree, they would also be great strung together as garland, on a wreath, or even as a finishing touch on gifts!

This was such a fun little craft project, and is the perfect finishing touch for our Christmas tree.
