Christmas Home Tour 2015
It's my favorite time of year!! It's Christmas Home Tour time! I love getting lost in all the beautiful home tours that are being shared right now, it's so fun to see such a variety of decorating styles that are all so beautiful!
Welcome to our home! This year, I really kept to more of a minimal decorating scheme, focusing more on making a statement with few standout pieces and trying to keep my accessorizing under control. The front door greets you with a giant "Be Merry" wooden sign, and simple wreath that I jazzed up with some silver and gold berries and a few gold pine cones.
Shake off the cold, and come on in!
My Christmas decor is always a mix of a little bit new, little bit old and a little bit DIY, and you can see it all together in almost every area of our home. In the entry way I gathered my collection of vintage ornaments in a flea market copper bowl, and you can't see it here, but there is a string of battery powered LED lights in the bottom of the bowl that give off such a beautiful glow of light through all the glass ornaments at night. The red garland was an after-Christmas purchase last year, it adds that perfect festive touch to the white shutters, and that wood scrap tree painting was a fun little DIY.
Each year I pick a color or two (or three) to use as the jumping off point for our holiday decorations each year. This year I chose blue and metallics, with a hint of red to keep it festive! The other side of our entry way is where you start to see all those colors come together.
I love the addition of the black accents to this display, it makes such a dramatic statement, but it really lets each individual piece shine too!
A vintage chair and blanket, and a sleeping little photo-bomber, does it get any more cozy than that?
I could not resist this little plaid letters from the Target dollar spot this year! They made the best little garland to dress up my cedar chest.
And now for the centerpiece of the family room, the Christmas Tree! This year I added blue ribbon to tie the tree in with the rest of the room, and also some silver and blue ornaments I picked up after Christmas last year for 90% off. (I always hit up the after holiday sales to get new decor for the next year for pennies, it's totally worth the effort!)
The rest of the ornaments are an eclectic mix of my childhood ornaments, my kids' ornaments, candy canes and some fun handmade ornaments too. (See my easy snowflake ornaments here.) I love our fun mix of ornaments, it represents our family and I wouldn't want to decorate it any other way!
The "new" barnwood shelves in the living room were so fun to decorate, and I found the less I put on the shelves the more I really like how it looked. I added simple yarn pom pom garland to add a soft element against the rough barnwood. Then I just added greenery and a couple little touches of red, and called it finished.
My grandma's ceramic Christmas tree comes out every year, and this year it joins a fun scrap wood Christmas tree , and my So Very Blessed art.
The dining room is the last stop on this tour. Vintage finds, plaid and gold fill the room, and make a casual gathering place for our family gatherings.
This tour wouldn't be complete without an appearance by Clark. He would like to join me in thanking you stopping by for our Christmas Home Tour, and wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
