Vintage Printer's Tray Turned Lego Storage
Happy Friday! It's been a while since I posted on a Friday, but I couldn't wait to share this fun idea with you. If you follow me along on Instagram, you have already seen my auction finds from last weekend, if you don't follow me, you should here.
Auctions and garage sales are at the top of the list for reasons why I like spring. Auctions in particular, are a great way to score amazing items for your home super inexpensively. Case in point, I came home with two vintage printer's trays for less than $20 total! A quick look on ebay will list similar trays for $30, $45 and higher for one, so these were a steal!
As soon as I saw these I knew exactly what I was going to do with them. First things first, they were a little rough and needed some cleaning, and I had to add picture hooks and wire on the back. Then all those little cubbies were ready to be filled.
Lego mini-figures are the perfect fit! I love that these trays work double duty as display cases and organizers. (Thankfully there is plenty of room to grow too!)
I hung these on the boys' walls over their lego building tables, keeping them low enough on the wall that they can easily access all their mini-figures. I am hoping at one of these sales I can find them each a small desk that will fit nicely along the wall below the tray. Then they will have an even better workspace for all those serious lego projects.
It seems like I am constantly updating how we store the crazy amount of legos these boys own. This one is definitely my favorite; it is a great way for them to store a few out in the open, and I love that it brings a vintage touch to their space.
Do you get out in the the spring weather and search for amazing deals at garage sales and auctions?
