Master Bedroom Paint Colors

Gray on gray master bedroom colors

Getting our master bedroom painted and pulled together has been a long time coming. It never fails that the master bedroom seems to be the last room to get any attention. So far, I have painted the walls and purchased the new comforter, I am working on hunting down the remaining furniture pieces and creating more artwork for the walls.

(You can probably get a good idea of a couple of my favorite colors, judging by the colors of this blog and the colors in my bedroom. You could probably gather the same idea from looking inside my closet too!)

Here is where I began: I found this awesome Nate Berkus comforter at Target one day for 70% off!! Don't mind if I do!! So the colors in the comforter become the inspiration for the colors that would go on the walls.

The wall behind the bed is a dark, almost black, charcoal gray (Handcast Pewter from Better Homes and Gardens by Glidden). The turquoise of the bed frame plays nicely off the dark color. I got the bookcase for free and I love having it as my side table, but I am still trying to figure out exactly how I want to re-finish it. I am also working on some new artwork to pull some more colors into the room.

The other three walls got a fresh coat of a much lighter gray (Partridge Gray from Better Homes and Gardens by Glidden). It is light and fresh and makes the charcoal color look more dramatic and rich. I do think that I will be adding dark frames around my paintings to make them stand out a little better again such a light wall. I like the additional color they bring to the space, but right now they get somewhat lost on the wall. This is the area of the bedroom that I am not sure what I want to do with it. It would be a perfect space for a seating area, I also thought a small built-in desk area might be nice as well...I guess you will have to stay tuned to see what happens!

Slowing but surely our master bedroom is coming to together. I have a picture in my mind of what I want it to look like when it's all done, and eventually it will get there. I will keep working on the space as time and money (and luck in hunting down the perfect pieces) allow, and will be sure to keep you in the loop.

So, tell me, was your master bedroom the first space in your home that you put your personal touch on? Or, is it one of the last to get done?
