3-D Wall Art

I am in the process of creating a gallery wall in our living room and one of the things I want to be sure to include is some art. I had a small space that I knew would be perfect for a couple of small pieces of artwork. On a trip to the fabric store the week before I picked up a couple of fat quarters that had a print that I really liked and wanted to include somehow. So I decided to take a look in my art/craft stash to see what I could come up with.

Here is what I started with:

I cut the fabric just a little bigger than the boxes and lids and then one box/lid at a time I painted on a coating of Mod Podge and wrapped each box and lid separately like a present.

Once they were all wrapped I let them sit overnight to dry and so I could figure out exactly how I wanted to put them together. Once I decided how I wanted them put together, I glued a thin piece of cardboard to the back to make it a little more sturdy.

Once the glue dried it was time to hang up the new art. It's a perfect little touch to what I am hoping will be a fabulous gallery wall.

Do you have a gallery wall or hallway in your home? Is it all family photos, or do you include art too?

  1. I DO have a gallery wall! :) I just re-organized it before my cruise (Nov 2012) and it's still growing.

Here's my little corner of blog-world and my gallery wall post. I promise it's not spam.
