Catching Up and My 2018 Favorite Things
Hi there! I'm back and wishing you all a *late* Happy New Year! I am looking forward to 2019 and all the potential that always rushes in with a fresh new year. While 2018 itself wasn't a bad year, our family was eager to see the start of a new year, and leave the ickiness of last few months of the year behind.
On the positives, I opened my Max & Dot Co. etsy shop midway through the year, and have been very pleased with it's success (I would love for you to follow the shop on facebook and instagram, you will get a look at new signs and be the first to know about sales!); the process of creating new wood signs and fun tees has been amazing, and I look forward to growing it so much more this year! In addition to the usual baseball and basketball around here, the boys have picked up wrestling as a new sport, and to say that has been a fun adventure for all of us would be an understatement!
On the not so positives, you may have noticed that this blog went pretty silent at the end of the summer. When school started we found our schedules very busy, shop sales picked up, and the blog was the first thing to be sacrificed. Then I had a simple medical procedure that ended up requiring a couple of additional procedures in the last 3 months of the year; that caused a ton of additional stress and time out of commission during the busiest time of the year. But, I'm finally to a point where I find myself wanting to blog more, although I know it will still be horribly irregular, but that's just how it's going to be. I'm bummed I totally missed sharing our home over the holidays, and I wanted to jump on more than once just for a quick update post, but the time was never there. All is good now on the health front (minus the colds that all of us caught!), and I am planning to share details in an upcoming post.
So, now 2019 is here, and we are planning to make this year awesome! I wanted to do some type of wrap-up for 2018, and since the mailman and UPS driver spent so much time delivering packages to my front door last year, why not take a look back at a few of my favorite things from 2018? I tried to divide them into categories to make it a little more organized for you.
I go back and forth with my book reading, sometimes I read every chance I get, and then I will go weeks without reading a page. Here are some of the books I couldn't put down last year and a couple of cookbooks I'm testing out.
Health & Beauty
I'm pretty minimal when it comes to make-up and beauty routines, but I did test out a new toner (that I now love) and put my trusty mascara on my amazon subscribe and save so I won't ever run out. You know I'm not a coffee drinker so this emergen-c mix is my go-to morning drink. And I have fully converted over to the coil hair ties; I love them so much!! They hold my hair tight without giving me that dreaded mid-day headache.
Clothes
This year was all about the comfy clothes for sure! I found some great tops that are warm and cozy, my new favorite beanie and the tote bag I have been using for a year now, and absolutely love!
