Summer Home Tour 2015
It’s time for a summer tour!
I’m joining some of my blogging friends on a home tour today so have some fun clicking around and enjoy seeing different styles and beautiful homes freshened up for summertime.
Welcome to my home! Summer is finally here, and here in Kansas the weather is definitely starting to feel more summer-like. So please, come on in out of the heat, kick your flip-flops off, and take a look around!
Right inside the door is my newest gallery wall. To give the wall a little color and character, I took a few pictures of the flowers around our home, printed and framed them. It was a great inexpensive way to add bright color to our entry. And to break up all the pictures and add a little warmth and texture, I painted a couple of small pieces of salvaged barnwood and added them to the display too.
On the other side of the entry are a couple of old shutters that have been moved around our home a couple of times. For the summer, I'm keeping them styled simply with flowers from our garden and a couple of old springs used as vases.
I try to keep the living room simple and welcoming, without a lot of extra decor busying up the room. White slipcovers and navy and green pillows on the couches keep the space light and summery. (You can see how I made those green and white pillows out of placemats here.) I keep the tabletop decor pretty minimal since I have two active boys at home, and honestly, most of the time it is covered in Legos and baseball cards anyways. That table wasn't always so fun, it's so much better now after it's easy navy makeover!
I kept it pretty simple in the dining room too (sensing a theme here?), but those navy blue chairs add that perfect bold touch that brings some fun to the space too (check out the before and after of the dining room here). One of my original paintings paired with one of my great-grandmother's original paintings provide the backdrop the room, alongside fresh flowers from my flowerbed.
Thank you for stopping by and taking a look around my home today. Be sure to stop by and visit my friends' blogs and home tours as well!
So beautiful! I love how warm and inviting it is. I love the books . . .did you make book covers out of old maps? Also, clever use of bed springs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Lory! I just took pages out of an old atlas and wrapped them around the books. It was a super easy way to brighten up the old dark books.

I absolutely love your kitchen table and painted "mix and match" chairs! Such a warm, welcoming place to enjoy a meal together! Love it! Popping over from the Kansas Women Bloggers link up! Glad to have found your blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you, those mis-matched chairs were a fun makeover. Thanks for stopping by Erica!
DeleteSo many crafty and clever ideas here! Loved reading the post and looking at your photos which gave me some ideas of my own. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the color in your home and your gallery wall! Those cork frames are awesome. Thanks for linking up to The Creative Circle. Hope to see you this week.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar paint color in my living room and I love seeing what you've done to your living room. I especially like all the colors and think I might need to incorporate some more bold tones as well. Thanks for inviting us in!
ReplyDeleteYour house is beautiful, but I LOVE your framed UNO cards! I just had a major blast of nostalgia for my childhood. Thank you for that!
