Little Shelving Unit - Fresh New Color
I have said it before, and I will say it again: styling and organizing your home should not be a once and done sort of thing. Your and your family are constantly changing and evolving and your home should reflect that. Now, I am not saying that you need to change your paint colors or your furniture every year. But, just because you have updated or reorganized something before, doesn't mean that you can't change it again.
Take for instance this little shelving unit:
You may remember it from this post, where it got a new coat of paint and this post, where it got a new home and a couple of DIY organizers to keep the video game accessories under control.
Well, it was only a matter of time. The brown color was wearing on me, I just was not happy when I looked at it. It was too drab and since I have given the living room colors a makeover, this brown color, and the colors of the organizers, were just not fitting in anymore. The final straw was when someone pulled out the video game storage box and ripped the side of it. We needed something different.
So I scoured my stash of sample paint cans and found the perfect color that I have been dying to use. Midnight Dreams from Clark & Kensington (it was one my freebie samples from free paint weekend at Westlake Hardware), it is the perfect shade of navy blue. It's not too dark and has the perfect amount of brightness to it.
Here are the beautiful afters:
I'm sure you noticed that the video game storage has been updated from before as well. The wire basket got a new coat of off-white paint and the other basket was one that I already had, and it holds the video games perfectly. The white lightens up the dark table and the basket provides some texture to the space.
I had to pretty up the space too, and I was in desperate need of some spring greenery in our living room. Lucky for me, Michaels had some of their faux greenery stems 40% off. I generally prefer live flowers to fake, but for now, I think these will do nicely. How about that faux succulent? It is surprisingly lifelike, and I can't kill it!
This little corner of the living room makes me so happy now. I love the blue and love how the white and wood tones really pop against the color. Do you update your storage and home accessories as your family grows and changes?
Beautiful color! Love the transformation :)
