I have to give grandma credit for this one. While we ventured out in the snowstorm to take our youngest to have tube put in his ears, my mom came over and stayed with our oldest. Heavily falling snow (2 inches an hour!) and windy conditions make measuring the snowfall not very much fun. And when it's coming down this fast we want to keep track of it.
Enter the fact that I have a small supply of toilet paper and paper towel tubes just waiting to be put to good use. So grandma got out a paper towel tube, a sharpie and a ruler, measured out one inch increments and fashioned a measuring tool that will stand up out in the snow.
