So Easy Decorative Pom Pom Garland

So Easy Yarn Pom Pom Garland - One Mile Home Style

This year was the first year that a lot of my Christmas decorations are still up well into the new year. I think a lot of that has to with the fact that I chose more wintery colors and went for more of a simple, cozy feel.

The easiest way to get that cozy feel in your home, is by adding texture and layers in neutral colors. It adds interest, without adding a lot of extra visual clutter.

This so easy pom pom garland strung on rustic barnwood shelves is a perfect example how texture can make a space shine. By adding the super soft texture of this yarn to the rough rustic barnwood, the shelves are instantly softened and the wall has a warm cozy feel. Perfect for adding the finishing touch to your winter decor!

This garland is so easy to make, all you need is yarn (the softer and chunkier the better!), scissors (this is the brand I use), and a little bit of time.

Start by winding your yarn around your hand, I wrapped it around about 70 times to get the fullness I wanted. It may take a little testing to get the size of the pom poms you are looking for; try wrapping the yarn around a small piece of cardboard for smaller pom poms, or more or less times to adjust the fullness.

When you are done winding, take a length of yarn, about 4 inches long or so, and slip it underneath the yarn while it is still on your hand. Then you can slip your hand out and tie a tight double knot.

Using a sharp pair of scissors, begin cutting your loops in half, don't worry, that knot you tied is going to hold it all together! Once you have cut all the loops, trim any long pieces to give your pom pom a nice well-rounded look. And repeat, until you have your desired number of pom poms, or you run out of yarn.

The final step is threading your fabulous new pom poms onto a length of yarn that fits your space, and hanging it up!
