Easy Yarn Vase Filler

I am very slowly transitioning my winter decor over to spring decor, although the snow that keeps showing up is making the transition difficult. Come on Spring! I need some sunny, warm weather!

Back to the post, I finally decided it was time for the pinecones to be boxed up and stored away until next fall. This left my large vase in need of something pretty and springy (that's a thing, right?). I picked up 3 different colors of yarn at Michael's when it was on sale not long ago, and decided to make yarn balls as a vase filler.

I had to get creative and find a way to make enough yarn balls to fill my vase, without buying multiple skeins of each color of yarn. I wanted this to be an easy and budget friendly update to my living room decor.

 Easy as 1, 2, 3.
1. Make a newspaper ball.
2. Wrap your yarn around the newspaper ball until you can no longer see any of the paper.
3. Repeat, repeat, repeat, until your vase is full or you run out of yarn

I filled my entire vase with only the 3 skeins of yarn I purchased. There is no way I would have been able to get this many balls of yarn without creating a "filler" in the center of each one.

I love this combination of colors. They are all colors that I already use throughout our home, but they bring a nice dose of lighter spring colors into the space. The navy blue brings a nice added depth to to the otherwise very light colors. And it goes nicely next to my new artwork that is displayed on my DIY faux barn wood display.

I have a feeling I will be doing some more spring cleaning a decorating in the next couple of weeks, now, if only Mother Nature would do the same and stop with this silly winter weather. Do you bring out brighter, fresher colors in your home when the weather starts to warm up?
